As an Accounting Intern, you’ll work alongside a knowledgeable and supportive team of finance professionals at our award-winning facility. Under the direct supervision of a licensed Certified Public Accountant (CPA), your experience may count toward the general accounting experience requirement for individuals pursuing CPA licensure in California.
This internship offers exposure to public sector accounting practices, budget development, financial reporting, internal controls, and other essential functions that support our operations. In addition to assisting with key tasks, you’ll learn how financial management plays a critical role in maintaining vital public infrastructure.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
The Accounting/Finance Intern will gain valuable hands-on experience by assisting with month-end close processes. Depending on the workload during month-end, the intern may also assist with routine Accounts Payable tasks or engage in other administrative projects, such as records management and scanning.

HOURS OF WORK
This internship offers flexible hours, with an ideal structure of 20 hours per week—spending the first two weeks of the month on month-end close tasks, and the remaining weeks assisting with Accounts Payable and other projects. The internship is for a maximum of six months and/or 999 hours per fiscal year in accordance with the District intern policy. The internship is anticipated to start August 2026 and end Winter 2026/Spring 2027.
An equivalent combination of training, education and experience which has provided the required knowledge, skills/abilities, and attributes and is able to perform the work (with reasonable accommodation, if needed).
We are seeking an intern who has completed at least two (2) full years of coursework (90 quarter units or 60 semester units) toward or has earned an Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field by June 2026 and meets the following qualifications:
